Zoloft is the brand name. Sertraline is the generic name. Zoloft is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression and other disorders. SSRI medications affect the levels of serotonin in the brain. For many people, these medications are the first choice for the treatment of depression.
Depression patients should realize that depression is a chronic illness
Autor admin | 04.05.2008 | Category Zoloft
Depression patients should realize that depression is a chronic illness
just like diabetes or asthma.
People experiencing depression feel hopeless. They may have feelings
of worthlessness and experience a loss of interest in every-day
activities such as work, hobbies or physical intimacy.
Many factors can trigger depression such as: being out of work,
serious illness, divorce, flunking out of school, loss of a loved one.
Sometimes there is no apparent factor that triggers a depression.
There are many prescription drugs as well as illegal drugs that can
cause depression.
Fortunately, depression is a highly treatable condition. If you are
diagnosed with depression and you take the medications that your
doctor prescribes, there is an excellent chance that your depression
will fade away, like a bad dream.
Scientific studies have determined that antidepressants work best
when they are combined with counseling, such as seeing a
psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker or other health professional
on a regular basis.
It is essential that depressed people who are on medication do not
discontinue taking their medication even when they feel great. You
need to take your medications religiously every day regardless of
how you feel.
If you discontinue taking your medications without the advice and
approval of your doctor, there is a good chance that you will fall into
a tailspin and become depressed again, possibly severely, and the
medicines may take longer to work.
Antidepressants are powerful drugs and should never be taken without
a doctor’s prescription. You don’t want to self treat depression (even
if you are a doctor) because the consequences could be disastrous.
Put A Stop To Headaches With Zoloft
Autor admin | 03.03.2008 | Category Cheap Zoloft, Zoloft
From time-to-time, in order to feel better you must use drugs that have side effects that are not wanted. This is the situation when you’re making the choice to take Zoloft, which can help with a range of problems such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Obviously, no one wants to get headaches from Zoloft, but the benefits often outweigh the side effects. If you’re finding that you experience headaches while taking Zoloft, or if you’re experiencing headaches after quitting Zoloft, it helps to know what to do. While on Zoloft
If you’re just starting out with Zoloft and experience headaches, the bad news is that there’s not much you can do to prevent it; the headaches are your body’s reaction to new chemicals in the body. The good news, though, is that once your body grows more accustomed to having the drug in your system, you’ll stop experiencing the headaches. So your best bet if you’re experiencing headaches while taking Zoloft is to keep whatever headache medicine your doctor recommends around, and to call your doctor if the symptoms persist longer than a few weeks.
While Quitting Zoloft
Unfortunately, headaches are also a common reaction to quitting Zoloft. This drug and others like them often result in withdrawal symptoms, a condition known as SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) discontinuation syndrome. This problem happens for the same reason that you experience headaches from starting Zoloft treatments, because your body is not yet used to the change of chemicals in your bloodstream. Headaches are merely one of a series of other symptoms you might experience while lowering your dosage or quitting Zoloft.
There are a number of things that you can do to help prevent or lessen the effects of headaches from quitting Zoloft. First, it’s best to attempt to ease out of the drug than stop it altogether. Ask your doctor to prescribe dosages specifically aimed at weaning you off the drug. If he can’t or won’t, then your best bet is to get a pill cutter and cut the pills yourself, so that you can ease out of the dosages you’re taking. Taking supplements, such as B-complex vitamins, choline, and lecithin, will help lessen the severity of SSRI discontinuation syndrome.
A Final Warning
One thing to remember when currently on Zoloft is that headaches can be triggered easily by missing dosages, so it’s important to take your dosages regularly. Zoloft has what is known as a short half-life, which means that your body will flush it out of its system faster than other drugs, which can trigger the symptoms of SSRI discontinuation syndrome. So if you’re currently taking Zoloft and experiencing headaches, be sure to make sure that you’re taking the dosages at regular times and not running to adverse effects due to waiting too long to take the drug. With all this information in mind, don’t be afraid to take the drug you need to be healthy, and you’ll stay happier and healthier.

Zoloft weight loss
Weight Loss: Significant weight loss may be an undesirable result of treatment with sertraline for some patients, but on average, patients in controlled trials had minimal, 1 to 2 pound weight loss, versus smaller changes on placebo. Only rarely have sertraline patients been discontinued for weight loss.
Seizure: Zoloft has not been evaluated in patients with a seizure disorder. These patients were excluded from clinical studies during the product’s premarket testing. No seizures were observed among approximately 3000 patients treated with Zoloft in the development program for depression. However, 4 patients out of approximately 1800 (220 <18 years of age) exposed during the development program for obsessive-compulsive disorder experienced seizures, representing a crude incidence of 0.2%. Accordingly, Zoloft should be introduced with care in patients with a seizure disorder.
Zoloft and Alcohol. Can you combine?
Autor admin | 16.01.2008 | Category Uncategorized, zoloft alcohol
Can I Drink Alcohol on Zoloft?
According to the Zoloft (sertraline hydrochloride) prescribing information, drinking alcohol while taking Zoloft is not recommended. Zoloft and alcohol act upon similar chemicals in the brain. So the concern is that Zoloft will increase the effects of alcohol — whether this is increasing depression symptoms or affecting motor skills.
Practically, when many healthcare providers are asked whether or not it is okay to drink alcohol on Zoloft, they make the following recommendation: If a person chooses to drink alcohol while taking Zoloft, he or she should only drink light to moderate amounts — and only after he or she understands the effects that Zoloft (and other medicines he or she may be taking) can have on the body.
Alcohol and Zoloft: What Is Moderate Drinking?
When healthcare providers recommend moderate alcohol drinking, they mean one drink a day for women; two drinks a day for men. Because the alcohol content in drinks varies, what counts as one drink also varies. When healthcare providers talk about one alcoholic drink, they are referring to one of the following examples:
- 12 ounces of beer
- 5 ounces of wine .
- This doesn’t sounds good but its the true.:))
Both alcohol and
Zoloft are metabolized in the liver, and taking both can stress the
liver. The manufacturer of Zoloft, Pfizer, states that one should not
drink alcohol while using Zoloft. Alcohol alone can induce depression,
and alcohol consumed with Zoloft can render Zoloft useless. Taking
Zoloft with alcohol can even make some people crave more alcohol!
Consumption of alcohol can also interact with the Zoloft you are
taking, affecting its metabolism, as well as affecting its ability to
control the depression, or other condition, for which it was
prescribed.
Zoloft and Pregnancy
Autor admin | 16.01.2008 | Category zoloft pregnancy
Zoloft and Pregnancy: An Overview
Zoloft (sertraline hydrochloride) is a pregnancy Category C medicine, meaning that Zoloft could potentially cause harm to your unborn child. This is especially true during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Zoloft and Pregnancy Category C
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a pregnancy category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C refers to medicines that have not been studied in pregnant humans but do appear to cause harm to the fetus in animal studies. Also, medicines that have not been studied in any pregnant women or animals automatically are given a pregnancy Category C rating.
Zoloft and Pregnancy: Final Thoughts
If you are pregnant (or are thinking of becoming pregnant) while taking Zoloft, let your healthcare provider know. Your healthcare provider will consider both the benefits and risks of taking Zoloft during pregnancy before making a recommendation. It is possible he or she may recommend reducing your Zoloft dosage, or weaning you off Zoloft during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Medical experts say its important to recognize that Pfizer promotes Zoloft for many disorders besides depression, meaning women may be taking the drug even though they have never been diagnosed with depression. According to the FDA, in addition to depression, Zoloft is approved to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
Is Zoloft safe during pregnancy?
There has been some recent acceptance of allowing mothers to stay on prozac and zoloft during pregnancy to reduce the risk of postpartum depression in susceptible women. I think your plan of decreasing your dosage sounds reasonable.
I would ask your obstetrician to consult a mental health expert and see if they can come to a mutual decision about your plan of care.
I wish you well and hope all goes well with your pregnancy and birth.

What is an anxiety disorder?
An anxiety disorder is an excessive or inappropriate stress response that leaves you with feelings of apprehension, uncertainty and fear, and can inappropriately paralyze you into inaction or withdrawal. While an anxiety disorder may provoke feelings similar to a case of “nerves,” it is the severity and duration of symptoms that distinguish the two. Without treatment, an anxiety disorder can significantly disrupt your life as you become tormented by panic attacks, irrational thoughts and fears, compulsive behaviors or rituals, flashbacks, nightmares or countless frightening physical symptoms.
Anxiety disorders strike men and women of all races, ages and social status, but (except for OCD) they are twice as common in women and they tend to strike more often in young adulthood. Anxiety disorders can be caused by biological, chemical or genetic factors; can be brought about by family background; or can be attributed to certain medical conditions or medications. Are there different types of anxiety disorders?
Yes, there are several types of anxiety disorders, including:
Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by at least six months of a more-or-less constant state of tension and worry not related to any event.
Panic disorder is characterized by repeated, unprovoked attacks of anxiety or terror generally lasting about 10 minutes.
Phobias are irrational, involuntary and overwhelming fears that lead a person to avoid, or endure with great anxiety, common objects, events or situations, including social situations and being out in public.Obsessive-compulsive disorder is characterized by recurrent, persistent and intrusive thoughts or impulses that the person feels can be controlled by performing repetitive behaviors.Alprazolam overnight
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. Traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters, accidents, or military combat.
How can I tell if I have an anxiety disorder?
If you feel “on edge” most of the time; if you experience panicky feelings, sweating, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty breathing around specific objects or situations; if you feel compulsions to perform specific and time-consuming rituals; if you have recurrent disturbing thoughts; if you regularly experience distressing sleeplessness, irritability, difficulty concentrating; and if these feelings persist or impair normal functioning, you should discuss them with your health care professional.
How are anxiety disorders treated?
Most anxiety disorders respond well to treatment, usually medication and/or cognitive-behavior therapy. Specific medications have been developed to combat anxiety, with antidepressant medications such as SSRIs particularly useful. Behavioral therapies help patients regain control of their reactions to stress and feared objects or situations.Alprazolam overnight
Do anti-anxiety medications have side effects? How long will I have to take this medication?
The newer antidepressants, including serotonin reuptake inhibitors, cause fewer side effects than the older types of drugs used to treat anxiety. Both types of medication can cause side effects such as nausea, drowsiness, gastrointestinal upset, anxiety and insomnia, which may subside after about a month. Most people make the mistake of stopping the medication when they first start to experience side effects or without speaking to their health care professional about the side effects. Sexual dysfunction (impotence, loss of desire, inability to reach orgasm) is a common side effect of some medications. Because many types of anti-anxiety medications are available, it is likely that one can be identified that produces the fewest side effects with best results. Most people don’t have to take anti-anxiety medications forever. Once your anxiety subsides, you can determine with your health care team what the best course is for you. Short-term treatment, from six months to one year, is common. But longer treatment may be necessary to prevent a recurrence. People who have recurrent anxiety disorder may need to take medication for the rest of their lives.
Can anti-anxiety medications be taken during pregnancy or breast feeding?
If you are nursing, pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or could possibly become pregnant, you should discuss with your health care professional the possible effects of any medications. If the mental health of an expectant mother depends on taking antidepressants during pregnancy, many health care professionals recommend that she continue taking the drugs, so she can care for herself and her family. Research is unclear about how antidepressants may affect a nursing baby though it is known that these drugs pass through to breast milk. Most health care professionals suggest that a woman who is taking anti-anxiety medication and is concerned about breast-feeding options consider the risks of taking medication along with the potential benefits that nursing could provide.Alprazolam overnight
What’s the first step in getting treatment? If you think you may have an anxiety disorder, talk to a primary care physician about your symptoms and ask for a referral to a medical professional who can diagnose and treat anxiety. There are many good sources of information about anxiety and other types of mental illness on the Web, through libraries and from mental health organizations. Many organizations have hotlines to help get you started talking about symptoms. If you feel suicidal, seek help immediately.
Alprazolam overnight Xanax Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to alprazolam, other benzodiazepines or to any of the excipients.
Sleep apnoea.
Myasthenia gravis.
Severe respiratory impairment.
Severe liver impairment.
Acute intoxication brought about by alcohol or other CNS active agents.
4.4 Special warnings and special precautions for use
Tolerance
The hypnotic effect can diminish following repeated use over a period of several weeks.
Dependence
Chronic use of benzodiazepines can lead to the development of physical and mental
dependence. The risk of dependence is greater as the dose and length of treatment increase.
There is also an increased risk in patients with a history of alcohol and drug abuse. If there is
physical dependence, the suspension of treatment is accompanied by withdrawal symptoms.
These may consist of headache and muscle pain, severe anxiety and tension, sleep disorders
restlessness, confusion and irritability. In severe cases the following symptoms occur:
depersonalisation, derealisation, loss of sensation and tingling sensations in the limbs,
hypersensitivity to light, sound and touch, hallucinations and epileptic seizures. Withdrawal
symptoms can appear several days after the end of treatment.
Rebound anxiety and tension
When treatment with alprazolam is suspended, a transient syndrome can occur in which the
symptoms that prompted treatment with a Benzodiazepine in the first place reoccur with
greater intensity than before. The syndrome can be accompanied by mood swings, insomnia
and restlessness. Since the risk of withdrawal/rebound symptoms is greater following rapid
dose reduction or the abrupt suspension of treatment, it is recommended that the dose be
reduced gradually (tapering off).
Duration of treatment
The duration of treatment should be as short as possible (see section 4.2) and should not
exceed 8-12 weeks, including the so-called tapering off period of gradual dosage reduction.
Prolongation of the duration of treatment is only possible after re-evaluation of the condition
of the patient.
It may be important to inform the patient at the start of treatment that the course of treatment
will be limited and to explain clearly how dosages will be gradually reduced.
It is important to prepare patients for occurrence of rebound symptoms in order to avoid as
much as possible unease about the occurrence of such symptoms during the cessation of
therapy.
Abrupt cessation of benzodiazepines can lead to paraesthesia, perception changes and
depersonalisation during one or several weeks. In some cases convulsions have been reported.
Amnesia
As with other benzodiazepines alprazolam can cause anterograde amnesia. This usually
occurs several hours after the product has been taken
Psychiatric and “paradoxical reactions”
During treatment with benzodiazepines psychiatric and “paradoxical” reactions can occur,
especially in elderly patients. If restlessness, agitation, irritability, fits of rage, nightmares,
aggravated insomnia, hallucinations, psychoses, inappropriate behaviour, delirium and other
behavioural disorders appear, the use of the medication should be terminated. Extreme

caution should be used in prescribing benzodiazepines in patients with borderline or antisocial
personality disorders.
Specific patient groups
Safety and efficacy has not been established in patients less than 18 years of age.
The elderly should be treated preferably with a lower than usual dose (see section 4.2).
In patients with chronic respiratory insufficiency a lower dose should be used, given the
possibility of respiratory depression.
Benzodiazepines are not indicated for the treatment of patients with severe liver disorders,
since benzodiazepines can promote the development of encephalopathy.
Benzodiazepines should not be used for the primary treatment of psychoses.
Benzodiazepines are not suitable for the primary treatment of severe depression and should
not be used alone for the treatment of anxiety associated with severe depression, since suicide
could occur in such patients. When administering to severely depressed and suicidal patients
it is necessary to take suitable precautions.
Benzodiazepines should also be used with greatest of caution in patients with a history of
alcohol or medicinal product abuse.
Alprazolam Stada contains lactose monohydrate. Patients with rare hereditary problems of
galactose intolerance, the lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should

Avoid using other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold medicine, pain medication, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety). They can increase some of the side effects of Xanax.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Xanax and lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit products with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor.
What are the possible side effects of Xanax?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
*unusual risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibitions, no fear of danger;
*depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;

Pregnancy
Women who are pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant should avoid starting alprazolam. If you are currently planning to become pregnant, discuss this and all medicines with your obstetrician or other doctor.
Teratogenicity classification
Marked Pregnancy Category D by the U.S. FDA.
Effects on the fetus
It should be considered that the child born of a mother who is receiving benzodiazepines may be at risk of developing withdrawal symptoms from the drug during the postnatal period. Also, neonatal flaccidity and respiratory problems have been reported in children born of mothers who have been receiving benzodiazepines.
Labor and delivery
Alprazolam has no established use in labor or delivery.
Nursing mothers (neonates)
Benzodiazepines, including alprazolam are known to be excreted in human milk. Chronic administration of diazepam to nursing mothers has been reported to cause their infants to become lethargic and to lose weight. As a general rule, nursing should not be undertaken by mothers who use alprazolam. Benzodiazepines are known to be passed into breast milk. This can cause infants to become lethargic and lose weight.
Geriatric use
Elderly individuals should be cautious in the use of alprazolam due to the possibility of increased susceptibility to side effects, especially loss of coordination and drowsiness.

Why is Xanax prescribed?
Xanax is a tranquilizer used in the short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety or the treatment of anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorder is marked by unrealistic worry or excessive fears and concerns. Anxiety associated with depression is also responsive to Xanax.
Xanax and the extended-release formulation, Xanax XR, are also used in the treatment of panic disorder, which appears as unexpected panic attacks and may be accompanied by a fear of open or public places called agoraphobia. Only your doctor can diagnose panic disorder and best advise you about treatment.
Some doctors prescribe Xanax to treat alcohol withdrawal, fear of open spaces and strangers, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome.Tags:Cheap Xanax Alprazolam

Before taking Xanax
It is dangerous to try and purchase Xanax on the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States. Medications distributed from Internet sales may contain dangerous ingredients, or may not be distributed by a licensed pharmacy. Samples of Xanax purchased on the Internet have been found to contain haloperidol (Haldol), a potent antipsychotic drug with dangerous side effects. For more information, contact the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or visit www.fda.gov/buyonlineguide.
Do not use this medication if you have:
*narrow-angle glaucoma;
*if you are also taking itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral); or
*if you are allergic to alprazolam or to other benzodiazepines, such as chlordiazepoxide (Librium), clorazepate (Tranxene), diazepam (Valium), lorazepam (Ativan), or oxazepam (Serax).

Before taking Xanax, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:
*asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), or other breathing problems;
*glaucoma;
*kidney or liver disease (especially alcoholic liver disease);
*a history of depression or suicidal thoughts or behavior; or
*a history of drug or alcohol addiction.
If you have any of these conditions, you may not be able to use Xanax, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special tests during treatment.
FDA pregnancy category D. Xanax can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Do not use Xanax without your doctor’s consent if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. Use an effective form of birth control while you are using this medication. Xanax can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. The sedative effects of Xanax may last longer in older adults. Accidental falls are common in elderly patients who take benzodiazepines. Use caution to avoid falling or accidental injury while you are taking Xanax. Do not give this medication to anyone under 18 years old.
How should I take Xanax?
Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from this medication.
Xanax may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Xanax should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.
Measure the liquid form of Xanax with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.

To take alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets (Niravam):
*Using dry hands, remove a tablet from the bottle and place the tablet on your tongue. It will begin to dissolve right away.
*Do not swallow the tablet whole. Allow it to dissolve in your mouth without chewing.
*Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves. If desired, you may drink liquid after the tablet has completely dissolved.
Contact your doctor if this medicine seems to stop working as well in treating your panic or anxiety symptoms.
Your symptoms may return when you stop using Xanax after using it over a long period of time. You may also have seizures or withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Xanax. Withdrawal symptoms may include blurred vision, trouble concentrating, loss of appetite, diarrhea, muscle twitching, numbness or tingling, or increased sensations.
Do not stop using Xanax suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.
To be sure this medication is helping your condition, your doctor will need to check your progress on a regular basis. Do not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.
Store Xanax at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Remove any cotton from the bottle of disintegrating tablets, and keep the bottle tightly closed.
Keep track of how many pills have been used from each new bottle of this medicine. Benzodiazepines are drugs of abuse and you should be aware if any person in the household is using this medicine improperly or without a prescription.
Contraindications
Use of alprazolam should be avoided, or carefully monitored by medical professionals, in individuals with the following conditions:
Myasthenia gravis
Acute narrow-angle glaucoma
Severe liver deficiencies (e.g., hepatitis and cirrhosis)
Severe sleep apnea
Pre-existing respiratory depression
Marked neuromuscular respiratory weakness including unstable myasthenia gravis
Acute pulmonary insufficiency
Chronic psychosis
Hypersensitivity or allergy to alprazolam or other drugs in the benzodiazepine class
Borderline personality disorder (may induce suicidality and dyscontrol)[21], however correlation does not imply causation, as these behaviors are seen in unmedicated BPD patients.

Overdose
Overdoses caused by alprazolam alone are seldom fatal: The acute oral LD50 in rodents is high: ranging from 331 to 2,171 mg/kg–for every kilogram a person weighs, the lowest possible amount that would be expected to cause death would be 331 milligrams (e.g., someone weighing only 10 kilograms [22 pounds] would not be expected to die taking less than 3,310 (331 x 10) milligrams, and the amounts prescribed to patients are far below 3,310 milligrams). Even still, overdose alone can lead to complications or coma, and especially overdose in combination with other depressants (e.g., alcohol) can easily be fatal and in any case, overdoses of any variety require immediate medical attention. Overdose symptoms of alprazolam overlap with other depressants and include:
Somnolence (difficulty staying awake)
Mental confusion
Respiratory depression
Hypotension
Impaired motor functions
Impaired or absent reflexes
Impaired coordination
Impaired balance
Dizziness
Hypoventilation
Coma

There is now a general consensus among psychiatrists that Generic Xanax and other benzodiazepines can cause withdrawal symptoms after long-term treatment and discontinuation should be done gradually over a period of months (or even up to a year) to avoid serious withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, panic attacks, rebound anxiety, muscle cramps and seizures. Some patients may benefit from a substitution with diazepam or clonazepam as these drugs remain in the bloodstream longer and therefore have less potential for abuse and dependence.
Patients taking a dosing regimen larger than 4 mg per day have an increased potential for dependence. This medication may cause withdrawal symptoms, which in some cases have been known to cause seizures. The discontinuation of this medication may also cause a reaction called rebound anxiety. Other withdrawal effects reported from discontinuing Generic Xanax therapy include homicidal ideation, rage reactions, hyperalertness, increased nightmares, and intrusive thoughts.
When a patient discontinues use, they may experience the symptoms they had before taking medication. Symptoms may also be accompanied by other reactions including changes in mood, anxiety, or sleep. Rebound anxiety is usually a result of abrupt discontinuation of this medication; patients who taper off are less likely to experience these symptoms.
Physical dependence is the major limiting factor against long-term use of Generic Xanax and other benzodiazepines.
Factors which determine the severity of the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome experienced during dose reduction of Generic Xanax include:
dosage
length of use
frequency of dosing
method of withdrawal
personality characteristics of the individual
previous use of cross dependent/cross tolerant drugs (alcohol or other sedative hypnotic drugs)
current use of cross dependent/cross tolerant drugs (alcohol or other sedative hypnotic drugs)
Use of short-acting high potency benzodiazepines for example Generic Xanax or lorazepam
Generic Xanax has an exceptional history insofar soon after its introduction a large number of case reports were published in the medical literature of severe withdrawal symptoms related case reports of withdrawal psychoses, seizures and intense rebound anxiety upon discontinuation of Generic Xanax . In the United States a survey of physicians showed that 84% of physicians reported Generic Xanax as being extremely problematic in terms of the severity and prolonged nature of the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome after discontinuation. The benzodiazepines diazepam (Valium) and oxazepam were found to produce less severe withdrawal symptoms than Generic Xanax (Xanax) or lorazepam (Ativan).
Generic Xanax should never be abruptly discontinued if taken regularly for any length of time because severe withdrawal symptoms may occur. Severe psychosis has been reported in the medical literature from abrupt Generic Xanax withdrawal and death occurred from withdrawal-related seizures after gradual dose reduction, which suggests that Generic Xanax when being discontinued should be done so very slowly over a prolonged period of time to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms.
